SAMETIME Based in Brighton, but born and raised on Australia’s Sunshine Coast, Sametime release their new EP “Get Out While You Can!” on the 13th February 2026. The EP is seven tracks of enormousness - half happy-go-lucky, half extraordinarily carefree, from a band who’ve been working on this release since birth. Speaking about the EP vocalist/guitarist Tim Aitken (he/him) tells the story this way: "Halfway through 2024 we decided that we wanted to write and record an EP centred around the vague concept of our lives after moving to the other side of the world. We spent majority of the rest of the year writing as many songs as we possibly could. Our goal was to have 40 songs to pick 7 from. We wrote about 60 in the end, and worked with the likes of Woody from Bastille, Danny & Dougie from Mcfly, Ed Nash from Bombay Bicycle Club; plus Red Triangle who'd done singles for Take That, Green Day & James Arthur, and Jimbo Barry who's written some massive tunes for The Script. (...)" Sametime are brothers Tim & Sam Aitken. They duo began their musical journey at a very young age, self-pressing their first album independently just before Sam’s thirteenth birthday. The record sold several thousand copies out of the back of the boy’s dad’s car while busking on the streets of Queensland’s numerous coastal towns. In their mid-teens they re-named the band Sametime (“so called because we were really good at harmonies.. it was only after our first show that someone pointed out it was literally both of our names” and became some of the youngest writers ever to sign to Sony Music Publishing (“when we did our deal everyone told us it was us and Taylor Swift… that’s pretty good company I guess.” Their music also began to evolve, going from their pre-teen acoustic pop to something more exuberant and visceral, channelling the live presence of bands like the 1975 through a filter of the classic songwriting that their dad listened to. In 2023, in desperate need of a change, the brothers decided they either needed to make a profound change or to leave the band behind. “during the covid pandemic, we’d kind of fallen out of live with what we were doing.” Says Tim “our main focus had always been on putting on live shows, and suddenly we couldn’t do that any more. We’d gone from playing five nights a week to being shut in our childhood bedrooms for what felt like forever. I got really into making beats and Sam got really into golf. Basically, it’s a real shocker to be a teenage pop band caught in the midst of a global catastrophe where you can’t really go outside” As the world started to come back to life, Sametime decided to give it one last shot. A fleeting search of ‘busking towns UK’ one Sunday night led them towards Brighton, with its permissive stance on street performance and long-held appreciation for buskers, it felt like the perfect place for the brothers to start their next chapter. “We’d never left the southern hemisphere, never mind been to the UK” says Sam. Yet two years later on, they’ve sold out six headline shows in their newly adopted hometown and are a regular fixture on the city’s streets and squares, frequently causing roadblocks thanks to their ever-growing audience “Brighton was honestly a complete fluke. We feel very lucky and very at home.”
